In order to counsel the development of overseas Taiwanese businessmen and link the advantages of Taiwan, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) held the “Overseas Taiwan Prime Award” for the first time in 2021, which was executed by Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI). A total of 13 high-quality products from overseas Taiwanese businessmen were selected from 7 Asian countries. The outstanding items included 6 Golden Quality Awards and 7 Silver Quality Awards.
Due to the overwhelming response and praise from overseas Taiwanese businessmen, this year, the OCAC has expanded the scope of handling the selection of Taiwan Prime Award to six continents around the world, with a total of 19 regions in 16 countries, for the overseas preliminary selection. In addition to the original categories of “Electronics, Electrical Appliances, Communication Products, and Parts” and “Fashion, Life, and Cultural Creative Goods” in 2021, “Leisure, Education, and Sporting Goods” has been added. Additionally, online registration is fully adopted this year and there are two stages of selection. In the first stage, regions overseas will conduct preliminary selection, and shortlisted the products for the “2022 Overseas Taiwan Prime Award Selection”, while the second stage will be finalized in Taiwan, 20 Golden and Silver Quality Award products are expected to be selected. Enterprises that have won the Golden Quality Award and Silver Quality Award will not only be publicly praised by holding an award ceremony, but also get a number of counseling and promotion resources to help optimize their brand image, expand product marketing channels, and enhance their overall competitiveness. The OCAC will utilize the concept of “dual brand”, that is, employ the “Taiwan Prime” logo with Taiwanese businessmen’s own brands to enhance the brand value.
Chen-yuan Tung, chairman of the OCAC, said that he hopes to help Taiwanese businessmen overseas to develop their own brands, let Taiwan enter the world, and let the world see Taiwan. In addition to public recognition through the award ceremony, the companies that have won the Golden and Silver Quality Awards will also get a number of counseling and promotion resources to help optimize the brand image, expand product marketing channels, and enhance the overall competitiveness of the company. Chairman Tong said that the OCAC adopts the concept of “dual brand”, that is, “Taiwan Prime”, along with the Taiwanese businessmen’s own brand to boost the brand value.
