Taiwan’s rescuers have found the body of a Filipino caregiver at a collapsed residential building in Hualien, bringing to 10 the number of people killed by a magnitude 6 earthquake which struck the eastern coastal county on Tuesday.
The Philippines national, identified as Melody Albano Castro, 27, was one of the eight people missing after the quake took place, the Central Emergency Operation Center said.

Rescuers said they found the body of Castro inside a crushed wardrobe at the collapsed building. “There was no vital sign when we found her body,” a rescuer said.
Rescuers were racing against time to search for seven other missing people — five Chinese and two Hong Kong visitors — who stayed at Beauty Stay hotel in the building, which wedged into the ground when the earthquake hit Hualien.
So far, 10 people were killed, including four Chinese visitors, a Filipino and five Taiwanese, the center said, adding 272 people were injured and seven were still unaccounted for.
