“Picture Archiving and Communication System” is popularly used worldwide. It has successfully made all medical record images paperless and has been used by more than 3,500 medical institutions worldwide.
With the advancement of technology and the demand of the public, the Ministry of Health and Welfare established the Electronic Medical Record Exchange Center (EEC) (https://eec.mohw.gov.tw/) in 2011 to digitalize medical records throughout Taiwan. Members of the public can access their medical records through the Internet to facilitate doctors in the diagnoses.
