The Eye On Taiwan News Staff – The American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) announced Tuesday that Taiwan will soon be included in the US Global Entry program, which will sharply speed up entry of Taiwanese visitors to the United States through the fast immigration lanes.
The AIT said in a press statement that it and Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency will hold a ceremony at Taoyuan International Airport on Thursday, October 26 to announce the expansion of Global Entry to include Taiwan passport holders.
The two sides will also announce that US passport holders will be able to use Taiwan’s e-Gate to speed up their entry, AIT said.
Taiwan has been allowed to join the US Visa Wavier Program since November 1, 2012.
The inclusion of Taiwan’s into the US Global Entry Program is expected to further increase the number of Taiwanese visitors to the United States, which has grown by 50% since 2012.

美國在台協會（AIT）將於週四宣布正式把台灣納入美國全球入境計劃。未來台灣民眾只需事先申請、完成安全查核並通過面試後，赴美時即可省去排隊時間，由專用通道入境。
根據在台協會今(24日）新聞稿表示AIT和台灣內政部移民署將在週四（26日）於桃園國際機場宣布台灣護照持有人納入美國全球入境計劃以及美國護照持有人納入台灣自動查驗通關系統。而美國護照持有人也可經由e-Gate入境台灣。
台灣加入美國免簽證計畫將於今年11月1日屆滿5週年，AIT日前曾在官方臉書上預告指出，將在11月1日前與大家分享「一個令人振奮的好消息」。
週四的宣布將使台灣繼英國、德國、荷蘭、巴拿馬、南韓及墨西哥之後，成為全球第7個、亞洲第2個加入美國「全球入境計畫」的國家。
