Let’s race against the clock to modify computer hardware parts!

One of the live competitions this year is the COMPUTEX Modding Challenge — CyberMods, the most epic Modding competition Asia has ever witnessed. Modding, which is a slang for modifying, is the act of modifying hardware, software, or any other component to perform a function not originally intended by the designer. Twelve participants, hailing from Australia, China, the Philippines, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States, will race against the clock each day to modify computer hardware parts to fit the day’s theme.

“COMPUTEX Modding Challenge — CyberMods” will run for four days from today until June 2. The competition will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day and at the end of the last day a panel of judges will choose the top 3 modders of the competition. The modder who comes in first place will receive US$3,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive US$2,000 and US$1,000, respectively.
Given that this competition is a joint effort between CyberMedia and TAITRA to introduce PC Modding to a broader audience, modders will get the chance to showcase their designs and introduce them to the visiting audience on the last day of COMPUTEX, June 3. Furthermore, throughout all five days of the trade show, there will be workshops on the different facets of Modding for the general public to attend.
