Driving in the urban area, find a parking space is a hassle. The Taipei City Traffic Engineering Office cooperating with Smartway Solutions, uses the Smart Parking Sensor, integrating APP with real-time on-street parking dynamic information, allowing drivers to instantly search for parking spaces, improve road traffic, reduce driving time and fuel consumption. In addition, it provides multiple payment services, indirectly improves air quality, easily enter parking and complete with automated billing and payment.
Vincent Chuang, Deputy General Manager of Smartway Solutions Inc. stated that in the past, drivers could not obtain the real-time status of on-street parking spaces, hence real-time parking information could not be provided and drivers could only count on luck to get one. With the installation of the Smart Parking Sensor and the development of the back-end management platform and App, the company can provide the real-time status of on-street parking spaces in the App and web page for 24 hours without interruption, and driver can find out the on-street parking spaces status. He said that the present parking fee is printed on the parking ticket and to be paid in convenient stores. If the parking ticket is lost or forgotten to pay, penalty fee will be imposed. With the online “Car P” Intelligent APP services, drivers can self-bill and pay via the app, eliminating the inconvenience of paying at convenience stores.
Mr. Chuang mentioned that at present the parking system for on-street parking is based on the arrival time of the public authorities. The public authorities stamps a fee stamp every 30 minutes or one hour. It is not accurate without the assistance of a sensor device, detecting when vehicles enter and leave. This problem can be solved by installing the Smart Parking Sensor, making the on-street parking charges more accurate and fair. The introduction of this intelligent services in Chiayi city has increased its parking income by 80% compared with the same period of previous years.
